If you've watched the Hokies this fall, you've seen Ethan Grunkemeyer stay cool. His last pass in the 20-16 win at Clemson was a 5-yard touchdown to Luke Reynolds on fourth-and-1, and he kept celebrating after taking a hit. Quarterbacks coach Danny O'Brien needed one word for how he's played: "Unflappable."

Grunkemeyer has already passed his Penn State totals

He's on pace to break the program records for passing yards (3,546 by Jerod Evans in 2016) and completion percentage (65.3% by Hendon Hooker in 2020). He arrived with seven career starts at Penn State, followed coach James Franklin to Blacksburg and threw for 260 yards and two touchdowns against Clemson in last season's Pinstripe Bowl.

  • Completion rate: 71.4%, eighth nationally entering Wednesday
  • Touchdown passes: 17, tied for 13th nationally
  • Passing yards: 10th nationally
