- ➤ Meals on Wheels resumed operations on Dec. 10 after severe weather interrupted its deliveries, plus the service is now back on the road to deliver meals to local residents. WDBJ7
- ➤ Santa spread holiday cheer by visiting Carilion Children's hospital (yesterday, Dec. 10) at a special event for patients and staff. The festive visit lifted spirits at the facility. WDBJ7
- ➤ Mountain View Humane invites local residents to the Whiskers, Wags, & Wine event featuring wine tasting, a silent auction, and local art today from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Vintage Cellar, 1338 S Main St. — all proceeds support affordable pet care services. New River Valley News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Dec 5 and Dec 8, widespread snowfalls blanketed parts of Virginia, with areas around Blacksburg receiving 2–4 inches—a rare early December event. Forecasts indicate that a fast-moving Alberta clipper will bring light snow later this week (hinting at more wintry conditions for locals). Cardinal News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents in Shawsville attended a public meeting to discuss the MVP Boost project, which proposes expanding the Mountain Valley Pipeline capacity. Attendees weighed in on the planned expansion during the event. The Roanoke Times
- ➤ Blacksburg Transit will temporarily reduce weekday service beginning Jan. 18, 2026 due to recalled electric buses limiting battery capacity, affecting eight routes between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The agency will adjust frequencies and alternate route patterns to try keeping service steady during peak times.
