  • Downtown Blacksburg bookstore The Little Bookworm was opened by owner Cathy McDowell to honor her late husband's dream by offering a space that nurtures children’s love of reading and provides jobs for adults with disabilities. The store creates a welcoming atmosphere—fulfilling a long-held goal to give back to the community.  WSLS 10
  • The Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry issued A Call to Compassion, urging locals to donate food and volunteer to help families facing food insecurity. The organization will host food drives (dates will be announced) and schedule outreach events (additional support details will follow).  WDBJ7

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley will open its Art is Relative exhibition with a free Open House on Saturday, November 29 from 10 AM to 3 PM at its Pulaski location—more than twenty artists will display work that explores family ties and visitors can pick up local handmade gifts. The exhibition runs until January 10 and will feature a special display honoring founder Lyndall Mason.  New River Valley News
  • Mike Gummer of Christiansburg won the club’s November barns challenge with a photo of a Shawsville barn taken on his second visit and Tracy Burlingame of Riner won the open category with a foggy morning shoot — the club plans a photo shoot on Monday, Dec.15 at 10 a.m. at the Inn at Virginia Tech and a meeting on Dec.18 at the Radford Public Library.  New River Valley News
