CULTURE NEWS

  • Local reporters honored U.S. veterans on Veterans Day 2025—publishing a book that records wartime stories from Montgomery County and Radford, including local hero Ralph Long who fought at Omaha Beach and in the Battle of the Bulge.  News Messenger

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Virginia Tech marked Veterans Day on campus with American flag plantings on the Drillfield and a wreath-laying ceremony on Tuesday morning. The school will hold military appreciation night at the Men’s Basketball game on Sunday, Nov. 16—honoring veterans and their sacrifices.  WSLS 10

SPORTS NEWS

  • Auburn High School's Eagles have rebuilt their varsity football program through strong school and community support and will play at Giles Friday at 7 p.m. in the VHSL playoffs — the team advanced from a junior varsity focus to a competitive squad ready for a new challenge.  News Messenger
  • On Nov. 11, the Bobcats advanced to region finals with a 3 to 0 win over Appomattox at home. Seniors stepped up in key plays—Emma Raccuia served late and Brianna Dobbins made crucial digs to help secure the victory.  News Messenger
