- ➤ Ph.D. student Matthew Wilchek is testing how artificial intelligence and augmented reality can help search and rescue teams make faster decisions during emergencies—he collected video and sensor data from a simulated rescue and will review the results with experts from law enforcement and the military to improve operations. - ➤ Virginia Tech's veterinary emergency service at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine has been transformed by Dr. Bobbie Conner and her team into a full-time care and training center—an upgrade supported by a Waldron gift. - ➤ The Town of Blacksburg announced that on Tuesday, November 11, administrative offices will be closed for Veterans Day while the Aquatic Center and Community Center remain open. Blacksburg Transit will run on full service despite closed offices, trash pickup will not be affected, and the town council meeting is rescheduled to Wednesday, November 12 at 6:30 p.m.—residents should note these changes.
