- ➤ Undergraduates from the College of Natural Resources and Environment are working with Blacksburg Parks and Rec to research trail use in the McDonald Hollow trail system by collecting data from infrared sensors along access points—this study will help measure visitor patterns and guide future trail maintenance investments. - ➤ The Virginia Department of Health updated the CDC immunization schedule so that people 6 months and older can get COVID-19 vaccines after a shared decision with their provider — people 3 and older may get vaccinated at pharmacies. The changes also advise that children under 4 receive measles, mumps, rubella and varicella shots separately and revoked the Standing Order on October 10. WDBJ7

- ➤ Friday night the William Fleming Golden Eagles beat the Staunton River Colonels 33—14 in a Blue Ridge District showdown as they avenged last season’s one-point loss and secured their postseason spot. WSLS 10
- ➤ Patrick Henry kept its perfect 6-0 season with a 48-14 win over the Christiansburg Blue Demons in Roanoke—Jake Painter helped set up key plays that built the early lead and secured the win. WSLS 10
- ➤ Heritage won 32-0 over Brookville at City Stadium on Friday night as Head Coach Brad Bradley earned his 250th win and set the team on a path to compete for the Seminole District—Brookville could not keep up after an early mistake. WSLS 10
