- ➤ PFES hosted an evening of Bingo, Trunk or Treat, games and a Book Fair at Prices Fork Elementary School in Blacksburg on October 6th; students and families dressed in costumes while dinner was available for purchase from a food truck and parking was provided in the front and back lots and field. - ➤ Blacksburg Library will host a Halloween Costume & Cosplay Swap at the Community Room on October 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Attendees can trade clean, gently-used costumes, masks, and accessories or take home a costume if they have none to share. New River Valley News
- ➤ Habitat for Humanity of the New River Valley and the NRV Regional Commission will host a community breakfast and conversation on Wednesday, October 29 at Warm Hearth Village to share findings from a 2021 housing study—plans for more affordable housing—and discuss future steps with a fireside chat led by Jennifer Wilsie. - ➤ As fall begins, deer mating season is set to raise the risk of collisions, and Virginia drivers are urged to slow down and check their insurance policies—state data shows more than 7,400 deer crashes and high claims reported last year. - ➤ Fall Family Weekend at Virginia Tech attracted over 3,800 Hokie families who reconnected with students through 22 events including a game against Wofford College and a family tailgate on Dietrick Lawn.
