CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Taubman Museum is featuring the 'Words Matter and Untold History' exhibit — it details the Indigenous experience by showcasing untold stories and local narratives. WDBJ7
- ➤ On Thursday, September 25, Blacksburg Parks and Recreation will host the 20th annual Paddling Film Festival at the Lyric Theatre—doors open at 6:30 p.m. and films run from 7 to 10 p.m. Attendees can purchase raffle tickets during the event. New River Valley News

- ➤ Virginia Tech is preparing for the Turning Point USA event on September 24 at Burruss Hall where TV commentator Megyn Kelly and Governor Youngkin will attend; ticket holders must show matching ID and follow strict security rules including no cameras or bags. - ➤ The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors will meet in a special session on Sept. 30 at 9:30 a.m.—the board will consider a four-year athletics budget adjustment that adds $229 million to help the athletics program compete with top ACC teams. If approved, the proposal will not change current academic operations and may include limited increases in student fees. WSLS 10

- ➤ Starting Monday, October 6, the Explorer routes will change as Explorer Green replaces the GLD route with six new stops along Roanoke St. and Hampton Blvd while Explorer Blue will serve Lucas St. instead of Church St.—Customer feedback led to adding Saturday service—beginning October 11 with one bus alternating between routes every 2 hours at Uptown Mall. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Based in Blacksburg, the Virginia Rural Health Association received a $4 million federal grant through HRSA’s Rural MOMS program to address gaps in maternal care in several rural counties; the grant will be used over four years to expand perinatal services, mobile clinics, nurse training, and telehealth support—helping improve care in areas with few obstetrics providers.
