- ➤ Students for Justice in Palestine is hosting a thrift pop-up on Sept. 25 from 12 to 6 p.m. to collect clothing, household items, decor, and electronics for Gaza relief efforts—co-president Layan Masri said the club aims to build on last year’s $17,000 success. Collegiate Times

- ➤ The Town of Blacksburg and Downtown Blacksburg launch a new retail incubator at 414 N. Main St. to help small retailers test their ideas before committing to full leases—today a ceremony is held at 10 a.m. Collegiate Times
- ➤ Our Daily Bread Bistro closed its Downtown Roanoke and Vinton locations on Saturday — offering current employees positions at its open Brambleton site. The decision follows an earlier closure in Salem in August — and now the bistro operates in Blacksburg and Cave Spring. WSLS 10
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County supervisors will meet today at 7:15 p.m. at the county government center in Christiansburg to consider changes to planning and zoning fees and to approve the final plat for phase three of the Walnut Creek subdivision—additionally, they will review scheduling a public hearing on fee changes for Oct. 27 and appropriating funds for the school system and county radio cache maintenance. - ➤ For National Recovery Month, the Virginia Tech Recovery Community and Hokie Wellness hosted a free naloxone training outside Payne Hall on Sept. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m., teaching students how to safely use Narcan on a manikin—each participant received a dose of the prepared medication after earning REVIVE certification. - ➤ Hokie fans in Blacksburg are backing the team as it adjusts to recent coaching changes—supporters trust that new leadership will guide the program forward. Local fans remain optimistic about the team’s future direction. WDBJ7
