- ➤ Sweet Charlie—a Pitbull Terrier/Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix—has been at the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center for 162 days and is ready for adoption today. He is up-to-date on vaccinations and neutered, with his adoption sponsored by Montgomery County Friends of Animal Care and Control. WSLS 10
- ➤ Zelda is an adult Domestic Short-Hair mix at Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center who is shy and seeking a calm family to help her settle. Her adoption fee is $60—she has been at the shelter for 96 days and is spayed plus up-to-date on vaccinations. WSLS 10

- ➤ Cardinal News will host two candidate forums for House races on Sept 2 and Sept 15 in the Roanoke and New River valleys. The Sept 2 forum at Andrew Lewis Middle School in House District 40 will feature Joe McNamara and Donna Littlepage while the Sept 15 forum at the Blacksburg Public Library will feature Chris Obenshain and Lily Franklin (registration is required). HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The National Alliance on Mental Illness, New River Valley, will launch its free Family-to-Family program for those supporting loved ones with mental health conditions on September 4. The eight-session course will meet for nine weeks on Thursday evenings at the 401 Center on W. Main Street in Radford—providing tools and support for families. New River Valley News
