- ➤ Martin David Brown was indicted on charges of obstruction of justice and reckless boating after his boat hit a dock—killing Virginia Tech student Jackson Fendley on Lake Gaston on June 22—and his arraignment is set for September 8th. WDBJ7

HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Virginia Tech graduate students and a professor in Blacksburg are collecting online survey responses to learn what residents in the New River Valley know about Lyme Disease—about 500 responses have been received so far and the data will be shared with health officials to improve public health strategies. - ➤ Virginia Tech is starting a Lyme disease study to check infection rates and test prevention ideas in Blacksburg—research that will guide better local health responses. The study will track key factors over the coming months. WDBJ7
