- ➤ Police are searching for a man suspected of burglarizing two local restaurants on August 9 — the investigation is ongoing and authorities urge anyone with information to come forward. WDBJ7
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Virginia Board of Education unanimously approved the Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities at Radford University—its first new program since 2009—to serve gifted high school students from local counties. The half-day program will offer advanced coursework, college credits, and hands-on arts experiences and may open as early as fall. WSET
- ➤ The Science Education program in the School of Education is hosting the World Changers Robotics Camp for middle school students who will use STEM skills to design a solution for a Nigerian town with unreliable electricity—campers will create robotic models to solve real-world challenges. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Ph.D. candidate Ahmad Raza Usmani and his team are studying how lift assist devices—jib crane, gantry, and manual lifting—impact auto assembly workers by measuring their movements, muscle activity and hand force.
