- ➤ The Eastmont Tomato Festival will take place on Saturday, August 16th at Meadowbrook Center courtyard — 267 Alleghany Springs Road — from 10am to 2pm and will offer free tomato-themed food, contests, and vendor exhibits. Volunteers will support the festival in roles such as vendor registration and food ticket sales in 2-hour shifts. New River Valley News
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Google will build a new data center in Botetourt County that is unique for its closeness to Virginia Tech and a top medical research center — a rare match in a small community. The project could add about 70 high-paying jobs and boost tax revenue in the Roanoke Valley while its overall impact remains to be seen. Cardinal News
