Appomattox Middle School began implementing new security measures yesterday to boost student safety.

School officials said the upgrades—adding cameras and controlled entry points—will be completed in the coming weeks.

Blacksburg lowered the speed limit on Prices Fork Road between North Main Street and Old Glade Road from 35 mph to 25 mph on August 1 to improve street safety—updated orange-flag signage now marks the new limits in Project Area Two.
