ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Virginia Tech researchers found that everyday pet dogs can be trained to sniff out hard-to-see spotted lanternfly egg masses hidden in trees — a method tested by 182 volunteer dog owner teams that achieved over 80% success indoors and more than 60% success outdoors. The study may lead communities to use trained dogs to help protect local ecosystems from invasive pests.  WDBJ7
