ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ After a fire at a restaurant in the City Market Building, officials confirmed the building is safe — the restaurant is still recovering — and Market Building Foundation Executive Director Elliot Broyles said the smoke looked much worse than the actual damage. The Roanoke Times

- ➤ Two brothers are restoring the Queen of Steam (a historic steam engine) so it can return to service; they plan to finish repairs soon (the project schedule is still being finalized). WDBJ7

- ➤ Today, Governor Youngkin signed House Bill 2720 which lets rural school districts with fewer than 4,500 students explore new transportation options like partnerships with community colleges, contract services, or ridesharing—joining nine other states in offering flexible transit solutions. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Two New River Valley women diagnosed with alpha-gal syndrome launched Two Alpha Gals to help others manage the dangerous allergy— they met in 2017 and later started the Alpha-Gal Foundation to offer a podcast and Food Allergy Mentorship Program that share practical tips on avoiding red meat and other mammal products. This support network aims to educate local residents on managing the condition and preventing severe reactions. The Roanoke Times
