- ➤ Production agriculture technician Seth Parker, who cared for over 900 acres at Shenandoah Valley AREC, died on May 19 after a battle with cancer. He joined the center in September 2023 and is survived by his wife and children—his contributions are remembered by colleagues. Virginia Tech News

- ➤ Anya, a seven-year-old Cocker Spaniel-Hound mix in Blacksburg, was rushed into emergency care after her owners noticed she was not acting like herself and showing signs of blood trouble. A lifesaving blood transfusion using donor dog Indie saved her life—she recovered quickly, and her family now encourages pet blood donation testing. WDBJ7
