- ➤ The Live Like Cash Gaudio Foundation will host its first Swing for Cash Golf Classic at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at London Downs Golf Club to honor Cash, who was killed last year. Over twenty teams will compete for prizes — including a new car, vacations, new golf clubs and student scholarships — as sponsors support the event to keep his legacy alive. WSLS 10

- ➤ State regulators approved an 8% hike in Columbia Gas’s non-gas rates that will add about $6 to the average monthly bill for customers using 5.1 dekatherms. The change will let the company earn an extra $40.7 million per year for capital investments and maintenance—approval was finalized Thursday. Cardinal News

- ➤ A study by Complare the Market Australia found Blacksburg is one of the greenest small cities in the country—ranking 20th among over 300 cities using measures like air quality, walkability, EV charging stations, and renewable energy scores. - ➤ On April 28, Spain’s power grid collapsed for 3.5 hours as unusual shifts in energy flow shut down trains, flights, and bank services while five people died. Virginia lawmakers will discuss this event in upcoming elections as they debate our state’s energy choices — though investigations have not shown that solar power was to blame. Cardinal News
