- ➤ Felix (the school mascot) joined Christiansburg Rescue Squad last week to help with vehicle checks, supply refills, and emergency calls at an outdoor concert and hospital visit as Falling Branch Elementary uses his adventures for career lessons; he will next week assist with Virginia Tech graduation support. - ➤ Mountain Valley Pipeline awarded a $15,000 grant to Eastern Montgomery Elementary School to launch an active-learning initiative with desk bikes — school officials say the funding will boost student focus and wellness during class. News Messenger
- ➤ Montgomery County schools will offer free breakfast and lunch to summer school students through the Summer Food Service Program; eligible locations will open daily from 9-10 a.m. for breakfast and 12:45-1:45 p.m. Local families can also pick up meal boxes on seven Mondays starting June 22 via Amazon.
