  • The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is searching for a missing 16-year-old girl — authorities ask anyone with information to contact them.  WDBJ7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bud Foster’s Lunch Pail Defense Foundation received the 19th Annual Chancellor’s Award for Leadership in Philanthropy after being nominated by New River Community College—award honorees praised its support for community college students. The award was presented at a Richmond luncheon on April 15.  New River Valley News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Virginia DMV announced there is no final day for getting a REAL ID—customers can apply any day at one of its 76 centers. The agency urges travelers to plan ahead since REAL IDs will be needed from May 7 for boarding domestic flights or entering secure federal buildings.  New River Valley News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Relay For Life at Virginia Tech is a community event that raises funds for the American Cancer Society—participants fight cancer while living the University's motto of 'Ut Prosim.'  Virginia Tech News
