- ➤ The Lions Clubs of Virginia 24-C launched the Listen Up! Preschool Hearing Health Outreach Program to offer free hearing and vision screening for preschools, daycares and homeschool co-ops serving children ages 2 to 5 in many Virginia counties and independent cities—trained volunteers completed hands-on OAE training with the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind. The program plans to expand statewide in 2026 with further details to be announced at the Lions of Virginia State Convention in Williamsburg in May. New River Valley News
- ➤ Virginia Tech researchers led by urban entomologist Warren Booth discovered a gene mutation in bed bugs that might make them resistant to insecticides like fipronil + dieldrin. The team tested 134 bed bug populations and confirmed the mutation in two groups, a finding that may help pest control companies improve their management strategies. Virginia Tech News
