- ➤ The New River Valley Master Gardener plant sale will be held Saturday, May 9 from 9am to 2pm at the Montgomery County Government Center in Christiansburg. Visitors will find various plants, a clinic, a basil bar, and tool sharpening by I Can Sharpen That plus funds for community gardens. New River Valley News
- ➤ Two Blacksburg retirees volunteer to monitor Virginia waterways, collecting data the state uses to track pollution and guide efforts to restore natural areas. The Roanoke Times
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A skydiver crashed into the Virginia Tech scoreboard during today's Spring Game and was rescued after hanging on for over 20 minutes, causing kickoff to start an hour late at 4 p.m. Collegiate Times
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday at Virginia Tech’s spring game, a man was rescued after his parachute malfunctioned when he hit the scoreboard. He got quick medical checks (per safety officials) and event coordinators said they will review safety measures. WDBJ7
