- ➤ Mountain Valley Pipeline said it will begin construction on Montgomery County's compressor station by year end, pending a final ruling (regulators have yet to approve the plan). The Roanoke Times

- ➤ Students in the Herpetology course at the College of Natural Resources and Environment conducted fieldwork today along local hills and a creek to identify frogs, snakes and lizards, including Blacksburg salamanders. - ➤ Virginia Tech announced its president is stepping down following an official message released on Thursday, Apr. 9, and the university will soon begin its search for a new leader in Blacksburg. WDBJ7
- ➤ University faculty at Virginia Tech and UVA are urging Gov. Abigail Spanberger to include professors in a collective bargaining bill, saying union rights would shield campuses (and academic freedom) from political interference. The Roanoke Times
