- ➤ Warm Hearth Writers Group, started 30 years ago by Nikki Giovanni, will host its first public reading on Monday, Apr. 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Village Center at 2387 Warm Hearth Drive in Blacksburg. The free event will feature local senior writers sharing their poetry and prose. Cardinal News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Montgomery County School Board will meet Tuesday, April 7 at 7 p.m. in Christiansburg to review nearly $4M for school building repairs, a Perkins Act grant proposal, and funding for an indoor golf simulator — a report on employee exit trends will also be discussed. Cardinal News
- ➤ Virginia Tech Board of Visitors will meet on April 14 at The Inn at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg to decide tuition and fees for the 2026-27 school year. Proposed increases may range up to 2.9%, and students can submit comments on the Board's website through April 6. Collegiate Times
- ➤ NRV summer camps offer stand-up paddleboarding, robotics, and art for children and teens across Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Pulaski, Floyd, and Radford. Registration opens on April 14 (with half-day and full-day options) and detailed schedules are available from local Parks and Recreation offices. Cardinal News
