CULTURE NEWS

  • Glencoe Mansion, Museum & Gallery in Radford will mark 150 years of history with a Tea & Discovery reception on Friday, March 28 from 6—7:30 PM. The free event will include guest speakers and an announcement about the museum’s future plans.  New River Valley News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Montgomery County officials and the school board meet today at the county government center at 755 Roanoke St. in Christiansburg to discuss the proposed fiscal 2025-26 schools budget that asks for about $5.2 million in added county funds and includes a 3 percent raise for employees. The school board will meet on March 18 at 6 p.m. to review and vote on the plan which calls for nearly $154.2 million in spending.  Cardinal News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Blacksburg Town Council approved an eight-story student housing project with 759 bedrooms off campus on North Main Street (located along Kabrich Street and Winston Avenue) during a narrow 4 to 3 vote. Developer LV Collective from Austin, Texas will begin further planning after the March 11 decision and the project is meant for students who walk, ride bikes, or use Blacksburg Transit.  Collegiate Times
