- ➤ Montgomery County is celebrating a rare discovery of four 1866 documents that list the marriages and children of formerly enslaved people, now available online at the courthouse in Christiansburg as part of the nation’s 350th anniversary commemoration. WSLS 10
- ➤ A local podcast that gives girls a platform to share important topics was launched yesterday in Blacksburg. It aims to empower young voices with engaging discussions. WDBJ7
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices in Virginia rose by 48.2 cents (to $3.30 per gallon) on Monday, with station prices ranging from $2.53 to $4.49 based on GasBuddy’s survey of 4,081 locations. WSET

- ➤ Brain School returns with a new theme that will offer interactive sessions for local kids to explore brain science in fun, hands-on activities at a community venue (more details coming soon). WDBJ7

- ➤ A female Bald Eagle known as Maggie died from lead poisoning after expert care at the Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center. Wildlife documenter Dicy Howell found her at Maggie’s Nest and Conservation Officer Rohrer rescued her, but she did not survive (BAEA 26-139). WSLS 10
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Researchers at a local health center are using AI with mammograms to detect heart disease (early tests show promise). The study was reported yesterday and will soon expand in Blacksburg. WDBJ7
