- ➤ The YMCA at Virginia Tech, with the Blacksburg Junior Women’s Club and Chi Delta Alpha, will host the Cinderella & Prince Charming Boutique on Friday, Feb. 27 from 3:00-6:00 PM at the Y Center to offer formalwear for high school students. - ➤ The New River Valley Home Builders Association has opened registration for a Lego home building contest at the 2026 expo on March 21 and 22. Participants, kids and adults (ages 4 and up) can submit custom designs for judging by NRVHBA experts, with winners earning gift cards and custom medals. WSLS 10

- ➤ Virginia Tech is moving forward with plans to expand its medical school by adding new facilities on campus. Officials said construction will begin soon to meet the growing need for health education. WDBJ7
- ➤ At today's State of the University address in Blacksburg, a student asked Virginia Tech’s president about the school’s defense partnerships and how it meets federal directives. The Roanoke Times
- ➤ New River Community College signed an articulation agreement with George Mason University at its Christiansburg campus on Feb. 18, creating a 2+2 transfer pathway in cybersecurity that helps eligible students pursue a local bachelor degree and access tuition-free attendance through the Mason Virginia Promise Grant. - ➤ Montgomery County has announced plans to renovate a vacant court services building at 201 Radford St. into a dedicated location for its Cooperative Extension service. Construction will begin later this year, with the move set for fiscal year 2027 to offer updated parking and meeting space. News Messenger
