  • Virginia Tech resumed its beloved annual tradition of a snowball fight between Corps of Cadets and civilian students, marking a spirited community event after a three-year pause due to campus closures.  Collegiate Times
  • Several Montgomery County Consolidated Sites are temporarily closed or operating on regular schedules due to power outages and flooding, with anticipated reopenings on February 18.  New River Valley News
  • Appalachian Power is actively restoring electricity for the remaining 19,000 customers affected by outages, with over 140,000 already reconnected and a goal to resolve most issues by Sunday night.  WSET
  • Smithfield and Kroger collectively donated $10,000 to The Market of Virginia Tech, a food pantry, during the Commonwealth Clash basketball game to support students facing food insecurity.  WDBJ7
