ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ GasBuddy reports that average gasoline prices in Virginia dropped 3.8 cents per gallon to $2.68 on Monday, which is 18.6 cents lower than a month ago + 24.9 cents lower than a year ago. WSET
- ➤ Project Rise is a new initiative boosting local tech startups at Virginia Tech’s soon-to-launch Entrepreneur Resource Center; Governor Glenn Youngkin and GO Virginia granted part of $6.2M with $648K allocated to its construction, which will open in the first quarter of 2026. WSLS 10

- ➤ Students pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism or grad studies at Virginia or West Virginia colleges can apply for the 2026 Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters’ scholarship by Jan. 25 + one student will receive the $1000 award. WSLS 10

- ➤ Virginia's new law now covers follow-up tests after routine mammograms at no cost for women with qualified plans, making breast cancer screenings more accessible. The law applies to individual and group plans issued or renewed in Virginia. WDBJ7
